Abu Dhabi History

The history of Abu Dhabi goes back to the mid-1700s. The name Abu Dhabi means "Father of the Gazelle". The main activities for the population was fishing, traditional crafts and pearl diving. In the 1950s oil was discovered and Abu Dhabi changed quickly. The oil revenue has been invested in infrastructure, telecommunication, hospitals, schools and other facilities that make for an advanced country. There are a lot of opportunities when it comes to investments in Abu Dhabi, both in oil and in Abu Dhabi Real Estate.

Oil is still the main key of Abu Dhabis economy but new industries such as tourism, banking an finance are rapidly growing. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has a 1.7 million population, a lot of them living in the city Abu Dhabi. The city is facing the blue waters of the Arabic Gulf. Today Abu Dhabi is one of the richest city in the world, with almost 10% of the worlds oil reserves. Abu Dhabi is focusing hard on tourism. 2009 the Formula 1 will come to Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi GP will be a luxurous GP on a new f1 racing track.
