Sharjah is one of the emirates in the UAE. In terms of size, it ranks three in the emirates. It is the only emirate that has land on the Persian as well as the Oman gulf. This adds to its geographical diversity. Sharjah also sports beautiful sceneries and some amazing waterfronts. Sharjah has progressed a lot and it owes its success to Dr. Qassimi. Today sharjah is stands as the cultural capital of the UAE. The headquarters of the UAE authors and writers union has found home in Sharjah. The union has over a hundred publications to its credit.
It was back in 1971 when the fortune of the emirates began to slowly change. The Mubarak oilfield was discovered back then. In 1981 it seemed like the reserves of the Mubarak oil field was exhausted. But the soon received a boost from the discovery of Sajas onshore gas and liquid reserves. The first port of the UAE was seen here at Sharjah. It also holds great importance in the world of cricket. Infact it is famous in the sub continent. Many great one day international games have been played at the Sharjah stadium. It is the capital of cricket in the UAE.
Sharjah is a fine blend of both the old and new. Look around Sharjah and you will find architectural beauties in the form of tall buildings, mosques, modern waterfront hotels, restaurants etc. Sharjahs greatest attraction is its history. It has many museums that have captured the essence of Sharjahs local history. In the Meleiha in Sharjah one can spot fossils that date back to nearly 80 years ago. Sharjah and its residents take pride in history; they do not let anything go forgotten.

There are plenty of fun things to do in Sharjah. Shopping in Sharjah is absolutely delightful. There are many sales happening all the time. Sharjah attracts shopaholics from every part of the world. The malls in Sharjah are not only beautiful but huge. There are tons of shops in one mall. You can get absolutely everything you want under one roof.

You can take off after a tiring week and head out for a nice weekend with your family. You can go and experience the typical Arab life or you can chill out somewhere along the coast. They provide absolutely gorgeous sceneries. You can spend your weekend at hotel overlooking the Arabian Gulf or the gulf of Oman.
Nightlife
The nightlife here in Sharjah isnt dead at all. Surprisingly it sports very English pubs. The people of Sharjah sure know how to have fun. All in all it is a great place to visit.
