Shortage of Taxis in Abu Dhabi

A shortage for taxis in Abu Dhabi is commonly spotted at places like Hamdan Streets and the Corniche. This is also due to the increase in the population of the city. Continuous measures are taken in order to improve the worsen situation of taxi shortage in Abu Dhabi.The communication officer for the Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars (TransAD), Huda Al Kaabi, stated that although there are innumerable new taxis available in the city, but some are waiting for number plates and other for qualified drivers.Ms Kaabi also mentioned that more than 1,400 taxis are operating in the city and seven more national taxi franchises will soon be added. A passenger who is not able to get taxi can call on the TransAD hotline to complain about it.
